Quiz master's First Blog

Hi Everyone
I'm really looking forward to the start of the 2013/2014 heats of the Kids' Lit Quiz which will commence in Newcastle on 11th  November
Last weekend I flew to Singapore for their first ever quiz and it was a great success. The winning school was St Hilda's. This was a pilot quiz with the real thing being held in April. All the contestants and observers really wanted to see how it operated and so they were pretty pleased with the kids' knowledge.
As you know there is no reading list so just read widely a range of books such as award winners, graphic novels, myths & legends, nursery rhymes. This is where the reading tastes of your team will be important in your team's selection.
I wish you all well and I'll catch up with you at a heat in your region
Cheers

Wayne - looking forward to seeing you in Wimbledon. I was asked an interesting question today and I didn't really know the answer. When it comes to the international finals, how do you choose the literature? Obviously, there is literature of worldwide interest but what about the differences? Helen
